Introduction

Sinclair Pharmacy is committed to providing goods, services and employment in an integrated and accessible manner that respects the dignity and independence of persons with disabilities.  This Multi-Year Accessibility Plan outlines our strategy to prevent and remove barriers to accessibility.  This Plan will be adapted every five years and as needed as barriers to accessibility are identified.

Sinclair Pharmacy welcomes feedback in relation to this Plan, in the format required by the person providing feedback.  Requests for alternate formats may be directed to the owners of Sinclair Pharmacy.

Customer Service Accessibility

Since 2011, Sinclair Pharmacy has provided training to all employees with respect to our Customer Service Standard.  This outlines the purpose behind the standard, as well as ways in which to communicate & interact with persons with disabilities that take the person’s disabilities into account.

Persons with disabilities are permitted to use their own assistive devices to obtain goods & services at Sinclair Pharmacy.

Service animals are permitted to enter Sinclair Pharmacy.

Persons accompanied by support persons are both equally available to our goods & services.

Notice is provided to the public of any temporary planned, or unplanned disruption to services usually used by persons with disabilities, including the reason for & expected duration of disruption.

Sinclair Pharmacy welcomes feedback on its provision of goods & services to persons with disabilities, in person, by phone, in writing, or email/other electronic format.

Workplace Emergency Response Information

Alternative emergency preparedness plans are available to employees of Sinclair Pharmacy where Sinclair Pharmacy is made aware that such plans are required in event of emergency.

Information and Communication

Sinclair Pharmacy will work with outside provider(s) to ensure our website content meets the WCAG 2.2 Level A standard as soon as practicable and to be in compliance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA by 2026.

By 2025 Sinclair Pharmacy will strive to identify a way to provide alternate format medication information to persons requiring it, upon request. This includes, but is not limited to, providing large print on patients’ prescription bottles and providing large print patient drug information.

Sinclair Pharmacy will make this Multi-Year Accessibility Plan available on its website.

Employment

Sinclair Pharmacy is committed to open, accessible & fair recruitment practice.

Sinclair Pharmacy reviewed existing recruitment processes and we ensured they complied with accommodation needs.  Sinclair Pharmacy will continue to ensure persons with disabilities are made aware that application may be made in a suitable format when required. Applications and resumes for open positions can be accepted online, over the phone, in person or another suitable format when required.

Also, Sinclair Pharmacy will review & modify where necessary, training systems to accommodate employees with disabilities.

Employees that are returning to work after a disability related absence will have their accommodation needs reviewed & met where possible, taking into account their disability related needs.

Premises

Since 2010, Sinclair Pharmacy has improved its lighting of retail space to improve access to persons with visual impairment.

In 2015, Sinclair Pharmacy undertook a major renovation of its Tavistock location to accommodate persons in wheelchairs, etc. so they may be provided with our goods & services in person. Sinclair Pharmacy will inspect the ramp annually, or more if required, to check for damage etc. We will continue to monitor and replace any anti-slip grip strips that may get worn from over-use and weather.

Self serve kiosks (debit machines) will be updated as available from our supplier to include features required by persons with disabilities.  It is not within the scope of Sinclair Pharmacy’s ability to provide such devices ourselves, but we will undertake to incorporate them once available to us from outside sources.

Sinclair Pharmacy is committed to providing excellent customer service to all its customers and as such generally has at any given time sufficient staff on hand in the pharmacy to assist anyone requiring assistance, in whatever manner necessary.  Sinclair Pharmacy commits to maintaining staffing levels required to continue to provide this level of service to all, including those with disabilities.

In May 2019 Sinclair Pharmacy installed a push-button mechanism to its entrance(s) to facilitate entrance by persons with disabilities. We are committed to ensuring its continued upkeep and call for maintenance in a timely manner when it is required.

Sinclair Pharmacy will consider any options to widen aisles in any upcoming renovations.  Area is limited, but wherever space may be incorporated, it will be considered.
